Durbanville Children’s Home held a women’s breakfast for 321 guests at Kelvin Grove Club, Newlands, on Saturday September 3. It raised R135 064 for LILI (Leaping Into Life Independently) House, Kraaifontein, which provides bridging accommodation for school leavers who grew up in the home, and was opened in April. Radio host Martelize Brink was the MC, and hostage survivor and philanthropist Monique Strydom was the main speaker. Leroux van Vuuren, ex-contestant on the reality cooking show Kokkedoor, demonstrated how to prepare some of his favourite dishes.
