Water supply disruption in Brackenfell, Durbanville

The City has warned of disruptions to the water supply in the northern suburbs. File Picture: African News Agency (ANA).

The water supply in the Brackenfell and Durbanville areas could face disruptions from Thursday to Sunday because of maintenance work, says the City.

Sonstraal Heights, Bakersfield, Villa Palazzo, Vredekloof, Pinehurst and Bergshoop will be affected when the City does a tie-in operation on the main water supply to these areas from 8.30pm on Thursday until 4am on Friday.

The City said the operation would enable the maintenance team to install a new pressure-reducing valve and repair isolation valves on the pipeline.

The main water supply to Everite Industria and Brackenfell Industria will be shut-off from 8.30am until 8pm on Sunday so a maintenance team can install a T-piece on the pipeline in Kruis Pad, Brackenfell.

“This work forms part of the water and sanitation directorate’s proactive infrastructure maintenance and upgrade programme which ensures the future continuity of water supply by addressing the issue of unaccounted for water,” the City said.

The City said water might appear discoloured or look milky for a short period after the supply has been restored due to air that was trapped in the pipes during the operation.
