Two people were killed and three others injured in a four-vehicle crash on the R300, near Van Riebeeck Road, on Sunday April 30.
Five people were found trapped in one of the vehicles and two of them died at the scene.
According to reports on Facebook, the crash happened at about 9.30pm.
“Rescue and fire services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the patients from the vehicle,” ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.
Traffic officers closed the road while paramedics attended to the injured.
“One man was found in a critical condition while another man and a woman were found to have sustained moderate injuries,” Mr Meiring said.
The injured were taken to Tygerberg Hospital.
“The occupants from the other three vehicles fortunately escaped injury,” Mr Meiring said.
