There have been several common robberies and thefts from vehicles across Goodwood in the past week.
Lieutenant Colonel Hennie Rademeyer, spokesman for Goodwood police, said a man had his cellphone snatched out of his hands at the corner of Halt and Voortrekker roads, on Thursday January 11, at 5pm. The thief ran off.
* A woman had been robbed of her gold chain at 2.40pm that same day. “The woman was loading her groceries into the boot of her car in the parking area across the way from Shoprite, in Goodwood, when a man came up behind her and ripped the gold chain from her neck,” he said.
* Also on that day, the canopy of a bakkie parked in Murray Street was forced open early on Thursday January 11, and parts of the alarm system and wiring were stolen.
* A car was broken into in Riebeeck Street at about midnight on Friday January 12, and a wallet and Samsung tablet were stolen.
* City law enforcement officers raided a Parow Park complex last month and arrested a man in possession of nine and a half mandrax tablets. They returned to the complex on Monday January 8 where they confiscated a small amount of dagga and found R13 500 in cash in the bedroom of one of the flats and R40 000 stashed in a plastic sugar container.
