The R115 million Maroela South Housing Project is on track, says the City.
The development in Kraaifontein, set to be completed in February 2020, will provide 570 housing opportunities, including 395 state-subsidised Breaking New Ground (BNG) houses for qualifying beneficiaries on the City’s housing database and 175 Gap houses for people who earn between R3 500 to R22 000 a month.
Mayoral committee member for human settlements Malusi Booi visited the project to check on the civil-engineering services that are being installed.
“We are making progress every day and getting closer to enhancing the living conditions of our beneficiaries. Success is only achieved when we all work together.
“Community support and partnerships with all concerned remain of utmost importance to get this development completed in the shortest possible time frame,” he said.
Beneficiaries of the BNG houses were being selected in accordance with the City’s housing database and its housing-allocation policy to prevent queue jumping, a City statement said.
