Police have arrested three men and a woman in connection with the hijacking of a liquor delivery truck in Durbanville.
Acting on a tip-off, officers arrested the men, aged between 30 and 40, and a 50-year-old woman in Gugulethu on Tuesday last week.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel André Traut, said the three men had allegedly hijacked the delivery truck in Wellington Street and driven it to Bishop Lavis before transferring its cargo to a delivery van.
The men had been offloading the liquor at a tavern in Gugulethu when the police had arrested them along with the woman, the tavern owner.
Officers recovered the hijacked truck in Bishop Lavis.
“The circumstances surrounding the case are being investigated and more suspects who evaded arrest on Tuesday evening are being sought,” said Lieutenant Colonel Traut.
