Several brush pile burns are planned for nature reserves north of the city between June and October.
About 15 tons of felled alien vegetation will be burnt on the northern, southern and eastern sides of the Tygerberg Nature Reserve. This will affect residents living in the suburbs of Kanonberg, Plattekloof and Welgemoed.
The City said the dates for burns – to reduce the summer fire threat – would depend on the weather, but its air pollution section had granted permits and Fire and Rescue had done the required pre-inspections.
