There’s been a second armed robbery at a northern suburbs mall in less than a month.
Six men robbed Foschini, at the CapeGate mall in Brackenfell, taking cellphones, on Wednesday night.
The six robbers had parked a black Nissan Navara in the mall’s basement at 6.26pm, a few moments before the robbery, said Brackenfell police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous.
“They entered the mall, went up the escalators and entered Foschini. One suspect was allegedly armed with a pistol. Two other suspects were armed with hammers,” Captain Crous said.
The robbers smashed glass display cases and grabbed the phones inside.
“This apparently all happened in a matter of seconds. The suspects ran out of the shop and fled in the black Navara,” Captain Crous said.
A plastic BB gun magazine was found at the crime scene.
No shots were fired and there were no reports of injuries.
Captain Crous said police had yet to determine how many phones were taken and their value.
