A woman died and a seven-year-old boy was left in critical condition after a three-vehicle collision on Vissershok Road near Durbanville on Monday February 24.
Paramedics arrived on the scene at 7.20am to find the vehicles in the middle of the road with the woman and child trapped in one of the vehicles.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said: “Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free the two entrapped patients. Unfortunately, during the extrication, the woman succumbed to her numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead.”
Mr Meiring added that the child was treated for his injuries before being airlifted by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
Durbanville police spokesperson Captain Marchell Rhode said the incident was under investigation.
