Kuils River composer Kerwin Petrus, 23, took third place and a R5000 prize in the annual Alexander SA Composers’ Award competition, held on Saturday night at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Parow.
Presented by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, the awards are aimed at young composers.

The second and third place winners were also guaranteed at least one public performance of their works.
