A non-profit organisation spread some Christmas cheer for underprivileged children at a Kraaifontein nursery school on Thursday last week.
Some 200 children from five preschools were invited to “The Bare Tree” Christmas party held by the Save Our Schools Non-Profit Organisation (SOS NPO), at the Bophelo Educare.
Each child received a Christmas present, but the day also had a serious message about the environment for the children, who learnt about the impact the festive season has on water resources and the tons of plastic that end up in landfills, oceans, and freshwater resources.
“Save Our Schools Non Profit has been focused on improving access to and knowledge around water, sanitation and hygiene within the Kraaifontein area for the last four-to-five years. As a non-profit organisation focused on assisting the youth of South Africa, we are proud to spread Christmas cheer with children in need this festive season,” said Shelley Humphreys, the organisation’s chief executive.
