Police arrested five suspected hijackers after a car was hijacked in Kraaifontein early this morning.
Maitland Flying Squad officers were on patrol in Kraaifontein at about 3.50am when they picked up the anti-hijacking signal of the Toyota Corolla, which had been hijacked minutes earlier.
After a short chase, they forced the car to a stop in Botfontein Road and arrested the five occupants aged 21 to 28.
In a statement, police said they found a replica gun, seven cellphones and burglary tools, including a crowbar, in the car.
