A fire gutted two factories in Parow on Saturday night.
Firefighters responded to the blaze in Binder Street, in Parow Industria, just after 7.20pm, according to City Fire and Rescue’s Theo Layne.
Redefined Wood Design was one of the two factories that caught alight. The owner of that business, Ilze Maree, told the Daily Voice that the factory had been burnt to ashes and she had to start from scratch.
“We sold furniture and the factory was basically our workshop. On Saturday evening, we got a call from the ADT security company asking us to get down to the factory as soon as possible,” she said. She said by the time they had arrived, the fire had spread to the adjacent factory.
About 40 firefighters fought the fire and no injuries were reported. Mr Layne said the cause of the fire was unknown at this stage.
