Tygerberg Hospital patients are “largely satisfied” with the service they’re getting there, according to a satisfaction survey done at the hospital last week.
The survey is done every year at provincial health facilities.
In a statement, the provincial Health Department said that as part of the survey, Health MEC Dr Nomafrench Mbombo had spoken to people who said they were largely satisfied with the standard of care at the facility.
“Making quality healthcare available to the 6.2 million people of this province, 4.6 million of which are uninsured, is no easy task,” the department said.
The survey found 84.15 percent of people were happy with the service at Tygerberg.
The department received
19351complimentsduring 2015/16, and 6615 complaints, 89 percent of which had been resolved by the end of the reporting period.
“Our public health system is increasingly under immense strain due to a complex and growing disease burden which is compounded by a tightened fiscal framework,” it said. The department encouraged patients to support hospital health committees and boards and raise issues with facility managers first.
