Goodwood police arrested six men in connection with two different robbery cases last week. In the incident which took place on Sunday March 13, one of the suspects helped police nab the three others who were with him during the robbery.
Sergeant Linda Halam responded to a robbery in progress complaint at the Acacia Park railway station.
Lieutenant Waynne Theunis, the communications officer at Goodwood police, said four men had threatened a woman with a knife and robbed her of her cellphone.
The men fled on foot but an an eyewitness gave chase, apprehended one of them and handed him over to Sergeant Halam.
Sergeant Halam then instructed the suspect to call the other three men and arrange to meet them.
The other three suspects agreed to meet at a petrol station in Voortrekker Road, where they were arrested.
The four men appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on on a charge of robbery.
* On Tuesday March 15, at about 2.20pm, a 15-year-old boy from Monte Vista was robbed by two men who threatened him with a knife, while he was on his way home from school.
Lieutenant Theunis said that the suspects fled in the direction of Monte Vista Boulevard where they were apprehended by a District Watch security.
The two men, aged 23 and 24, were handed over to police who arrested them.
The two men appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on a charge of robbery.
