Malcalm McCallum was appointed as the new Lions Club De Grendel president in a ceremony at Parow Golf Course on Saturday July 6.
Mr McCallum has lived in Parow Valley for 12 years and became involved with the club eight years ago.
He has been an official member for four years.
“I was introduced to the Lions Club by Mike Wood, who was the business partner of my late father. Mr Wood is one of the charter members of the club. I fell in love with the projects they run, and I enjoy every moment of it,” he said.
Mr McCallum was chosen as the vice-president last year by the club’s former president, Yolanda Smith. He said he felt blessed to be able to serve the less fortunate in the community and planned to spread the word about the club’s work and grow its membership.
Mr McCallum has been married for 23 years to his wife, Verculene, and has two children, a son, 22 and a daughter, 19.
