The City is going ahead with repairs at the Glen Garry reservoir after they were postponed last month.
Mayoral committee member for water Dr Zahid Badroodien said the City would be repairing two 1000mm diameter control valves at its Glen Garry reservoir in Brackenfell from midnight on Saturday March 26 to midnight on Sunday March 26.
Last month, the City announced the repairs to two valves at the reservoir, but Dr Badroodien said they had been postponed to this month.
The work would require the shutdown of the reservoir’s inflow for 24 hours, he said, but the reservoir would be filled in advance to minimise the possibility of water-supply disruptions in the areas it served: Bloekombos, Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, Brackenfell and Bellville.
Until the repairs were completed, residents should reduce their water use to maintain the water supply and pressure in the pipe network, he said.
