The Glenwood Neighbourhood Watch in Goodwood is aiming to raise over R20 000 during its annual fund-raiser this month.
The funds raised will go towards additional CCTV cameras, neighbourhood watch gear, and food for a community outreach programme.
The watch has 15 volunteer patrollers, and there are seven CCTV cameras installed in Glenwood.
“With the new technology available, three of the cameras allow us to have immediate live notifications. By using our mobile devices, we can keep a watchful eye and capture any unusual activity at any time of the day,” said the watch’s deputy chairperson Tracy Alberts.
“The annual fund-raiser will allow us to bring in much-needed funds to cover the expenses for extra cameras.“
The watch also feeds 40 needy pupils twice a week at a local primary school.
“Although we do receive donations from the community and our patrollers, the neighbourhood watch funds a large portion of this expense,” Ms Alberts said.
Glenwood Neighbourhood Watch patrollers will be selling raffle tickets outside the Glenwood SPAR every Saturday during August. A prize draw will take place on Wednesday September 20.
