Supported by two companies, a charity has donated 4000 packs of menstrual pads to Fisantekraal and Kuils River schoolgirls.

Fisantekraal High School and Kalkfontein Primary School each received 2000 packs of the pads on Wednesday August 30, according to the sponsors.

Gift of the Givers Foundation head Dr Imtiaz Sooliman thanked the companies for their support calling it a “game changer” for the schoolgirls.

Fisantekraal High School principal Leopold Vries said the donation meant girls who could not afford pads would not have to miss school during their periods.

Western Cape Education Department spokeswoman Bronagh Hammond said any companies or organisations wanting to support donations of pads were welcome to get in touch with either the WCED or the Department of Social Development.

“We thank the organisations who do provide these resources to our learners,” she said.
