A Kraaifontein police dragnet closed around 125 people who were arrested on various charges from Friday January 18 to Sunday January 20.
The charges included murder, attempted murder, assault, assault grievous bodily harm, business robbery, common assault, drugs, dealing in liquor, drunken driving, house breaking, theft, possession of stolen property, common robbery and malicious damage to property.
The police said 33 of the arrests were drug related, including; possession and dealing in mandrax, tik and dagga.
And during raids on several shebeens, police arrested six people for illegally selling liquor and they also seized 234 litres of liquor.
All the suspects that were arrested will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court, once they are charged, according to Kraaifontein police station commander Brigadier Gerda van Niekerk.
She described the whole weekend in Kraaifontein as “murder free”.
