Another cold front on the way

SOUTH AFRICA - Cape Town - 23 July 2019 - Three days of heavy rain and wind is expected for the Western Cape. An intense cold front which will result in very cold, wet and windy conditions is expected in the province on Tuesday July 30.

Gale force north-westerly winds of between 65 and 80km/h have been forecast between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas.

Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre spokesperson, Charlotte Powell, said: “The most likely scenario would be heavy rain, leading to localised flooding.”

High seas with wave heights of 6 metres are expected between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas in the morning and could lead to a storm surge along the Atlantic Seaboard and False Bay.

Residents are encouraged to contact the Public Emergency Communication Centre, on 107 from a landline or 021 480 7700, in the event of an emergency.
