A 44-year-old man, Ambweme Samson Killas, appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday after police allegedly linked him to a R4 million drug haul.
Police were tipped off about Mr Killas’s suspicious visits to a Durbanville storage facility, according to Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani.
Officers had searched Mr Killas’s vehicle on Monday and had found 20kg of compressed dagga in the back seat, she said.
Police had then accompanied Mr Killas to two storage facilities where they had seized a further 579kg of dagga, 1.4kg of tik and an undisclosed amount of cash, she said.
The accused was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing on Tuesday December 14.
