Brackenfell police are searching for three men involved in the double murder of a taxi boss and taxi rank manager, in Brackenfell, at the weekend.
According to Brackenfell police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous, the investigation will be carried out by the Provincial Taxi Task Team as the incident is related to an ongoing taxi war. However, no arrests have yet been made.
It is believed the victims, aged 32 and 35, were travelling with a 27-year-old man towards Kraaifontein in a Ford Ecosport when a white taxi stopped next to them on the corner of Old Paarl Road and William Dabbs Street, on Saturday February 6.
Police say a passenger in the taxi started shooting at the men in the Ford, which then crashed into a nearby block of flats in Kraaifontein.
Captain Crous said the driver, who was shot in the stomach, died on his way to hospital. Another man in the vehicle was shot in the neck and stomach and died on the scene. The 27-year-old passenger was not injured.
