The City of Cape Town invites applications for 300 temporary lifeguard positions for public swimming pools and beaches for the summer season.
The City’s sport and recreation department wants to ensure that its amenities are ready, although the season is still some months away.
“One of the City’s critical requirements is to have trained and competent lifeguards available at our swimming pools and beaches. We would like to encourage people who meet the criteria to apply timeously, so as not to lose out on this temporary employment opportunity,” said Mayoral committee member for community services and special projects, Belinda Walker.
There are seasonal contracts available for senior municipal pool lifeguards and beach lifeguards.
All applicants must have Grade 10, clear criminal records and be physically fit. Senior pool lifeguards need at least two years’ (four seasons) relevant experience. Beach lifeguards need a valid lifeguard award or equivalent with current annual retest and a valid level-2 first aid certificate or be able to obtain one within six months of their appointment.
Applications close on Friday August 5. Printed application forms are available at district offices. Completed application and documents can be dropped off the the City’s district office on the corner of Darling and Felicia streets, Chrismar, Bellville.
