Gold medal winners

Pictured are some of the Durbanville-based Elite Athletes Academy’s gold medal winners who took part in last week’s Western Province primary schools championships in Paarl. The competition featured athletes representing schools from various districts in the Cape Town metropole - North, East, South and Central - with athletes from the northern suburbs dominating most events.

Curro Durbanville Primary School’s Vuyo Ngobeni claimed the top spot in the boys’ under-12 long jump event. Curro Durbanville Primary School’s Lamicah Adamson walked away with four gold medals at last week’s WP championships, in the girls’ under-12 100m and 150m sprints, in long jump and in the girls’ under-12 4x100m relay. Bastion Primary School’s Tyler-Jude Jantjies smiling from ear to ear after clinching gold in the boys’ under-12 hurdles event. Eversdal Primary School’s Alaina-Jane Franken with her tally of medals won at last week’s WP championships, taking gold in the girls’ under-11 long jump event and bronze in the 80m dash. Curro Durbanville Primary School’s Kiana Foster was first across the finish line to win gold in the girls’ 80m dash. Durbanville Primary’s Kari van der Heever won gold in the girls under-10 70m hurdles. Current SA champ, Gene Louw Primary School’s Imke Roux won gold in the girls’ under-13 75m and 150m hurdles.
