There have been no arrests for the killing of Aviwe Jam Jam whose battered body was found by security guards at Vygieskraal Stadium in the early hours of Saturday July 29.
Ms Jam Jam’s boyfriend, Linda Ntula, appeared in court last week on charges unrelated to her murder.
Ms Jam Jam was reportedly living in Summerville at the time of her death.
Athlone police spokeswoman, Sergeant Zita Norman, said police received a call from the guards at 3am on Saturday July 29. Initial investigations determined that the cause of death had been a blow to the head, but this has yet to be confirmed by a post mortem, Sergeant Norman said.
Ms Jam Jam had been reported missing at Mfuleni police station and her family identified her body on Monday August 7.
According to the family’s missing persons report, Ms Jam Jam was last seen leaving her boyfriend’s house in Summerville on Saturday July 22, where it is suspected she was living at the time.
On Friday August 11, Mr Ntula, appeared at Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder after he allegedly attacked Ms Jam Jam’s stepfather, the Cape Argus reported.
The case was postponed until Friday September 8, so it could be investigated.
It is alleged Mr Ntula and a group of friends attacked Ms Jam Jam’s stepfather while he was entering the driveway of his Site C home.
Her stepfather escaped the attack, but was rushed to the hospital where he received 12 stitches in his head.
Ms Jam Jam’s stepfather, who declined to be named, told the Cape Argus that a week after the attack, Mr Ntula and a friend came back to his home and fired shots outside.
The bullets chipped the wall in two places. Mr Ntula and Ms Jam Jam have a two-year-old son, the Cape Argus reported.
