Christy Haefele, a wife and mother from Durbanville, has been selected as one of the top-100 finalists in the Mrs South Africa Pageant.
The top 100 were announced at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, during a two-day induction conference.
“It is such an honour to have been chosen as a top-100 semi-finalist, and I am looking forward to being stretched and challenged through this process, learning more about myself and being inspired by the incredible women around me,” Ms Haefele said.
The Mrs South Africa Pageant offers married women a chance to impact and change the lives of others.
“This programme reminds us that we are stronger than we seem, braver than we believe and twice as beautiful as we ever imagined,” Ms Haefele said.
She is the founder and director of non-profit organisation Beating Heart SA, which provides support to mothers and newborn babies in the form of care bags, which are supplied to the Elsies River and Kraaifontein day hospitals. Beating Heart SA also collects clothing, books and toys for various safe houses, crisis centres and other non-profit organisations.
Ms Haefele is an avid supporter of CANSA, the official Mrs SA charity, and its goal to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa.
This mother of three young boys grew up in Durban and later moved to Cape Town to study at UCT. After marrying her husband, Alan, the couple lived in the United Kingdom for seven years.
The semi-finalists are expected to use their influence to raise funds for charity during the next two months in anticipation of the top 25- finalist’s announcement at the CANSA gala dinner at Emperors Palace on Friday April 29.
