Police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after 32 people were injured when a bus overturned on the Old Paarl Road, near Bloekombos, last week.
The bus was ferrying 67 County Fair staff to the Hocroft abattoir in Agter-Paarl when it rolled after hitting a bakkie just after 6.30am on Thursday April 12.
There were no serious injuries, said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring. Passengers managed to escape from the bus and could be seen alongside the road.
Andy Crocker, managing director of County Fair’s parent company, Astral Foods Ltd, said: “The safety of our staff is of paramount importance to us, and Astral will continue to review the safest methods of transporting staff for our operations.”
Cape Town traffic services spokesman, Richard Coleman, said the cause of the accident was still unconfirmed.
Provincial police spokeswoman, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, said they were investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
