With the Sun Met just around the corner, it is best to start creating your winning summer racing look now without that last minute rush.
You should be oozing with elegance and glamour, and what better time to treat yourself to a gorgeous new outfit than when you’re going to the races?
I think it’s pretty cool to have this day where people get to dress up and be all these amazing characters in extravagant hats and lovely fascinators.
If you’re unsure which trends to shop for this year, below you can find some tips on the styles that will get you noticed.
When it comes to the races, ladies should aim for a longer, demure skirt length that would ideally reach below the knee. Ensure that your dress has straps or that you wear a cover-up over a strapless number.
Be sure to check the dress code of your particular race location – some racecourses are very strict as to what you’re allowed to wear.
Pastels vs brights
Brights always make a much bigger statement when it comes to the races. This is the perfect time to go big and bold.
Monochrome vs patterned
I am more of a colour kind of girl so I love floral and would go for patterns anytime, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t go for a monochrome look, with a light fabric.
It just makes it easier to accessorise much more extravagantly. I love accessories so I try to prepare a good canvas for them with a simple but stunning outfit.
Dresses vs jumpsuit
I love dresses because they are fuss free and effortlessly stylish.
It’s like the work has been done for you which makes getting ready extra quick.
Heels vs flats
Heels definitely. It is not easy to look elegant with flats. That being said, I can’t guarantee your heels won’t sink into the turf, so take a cute little pair of flats for emergencies.
Fascinators vs alternative headwear
I am really in between a hat and a fascinator look. With my look pictured here I styled this simple, gorgeous lace crown headband.
I believe the racing events give us all that opportunity to be fabulously different from our norm.
This fascinator is very editorial and packs some serious style, making it comfortable to wear the whole day.
Bright lips vs smokey eye
A bright lip definitely, because chances are I will end up wearing sunglasses or some other eye-covering accessory.
I hope you found that helpful and it inspired you to start the hunt for your very own perfect race day look, because that in itself is an adventure.
Once again, thank you for your support and have yourself an awesome 2017.
