South African-French artist, graphic designer and cultural worker Louis Jansen van Vuuren’s latest exhibition, Terre Verte (Green Earth), comes to the Baxter Theatre Centre foyer and is open to the public from today, Thursday February 15 to Tuesday February 20.
The collection spans multiple media, blurring the line between art and fashion.
In addition to producing his distinctive oils and pastels on paper, Jansen van Vuuren has been involved in art education for several decades and has held lecturing positions at the Natal College for Advanced Technical Education, the Department of Creative Arts at Stellenbosch University and UCT’s Michaelis School of Fine Art.
Since 2000, Jansen van Vuuren has been living, painting and writing full time in France. Along with Hardy Olivier, the pair are the residing hosts of the Château de la Creuzette luxury holiday destination.
As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations and 40/80 fund-raising campaign, the Baxter is running a competition, where, for a R100 donation, the public stand a chance to win a trip for one to Château de La Creuzette. Entries close on Monday February 26.
All proceeds go towards the Baxter’s Production Fund. Visit www.baxter.co.za to find out more.
