Law enforcement officers found the body of a newborn baby boy at the Bellville public transport interchange last week.
Law enforcement spokesman Wayne Dyason said the officers had been patrolling on Thursday September 28, at just after 4pm when members of the public alerted them to a “suspicious bundle” in a bin. Officers found the fully formed newborn wrapped in a black sweater.
The ambulance service was called but they declared the baby dead.
This is the second such incident in recent months.
A foetus was found dumped in a municipal bin in front of a block of flats in Voortrekker Road,Bellville on Friday June 23. Bellville police (“Baby dumped in bin,” Northern News , June 29).
Bellville police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Henrietta vanNiekerk told Northern News somebody called the poice about it at 10.30am.
“The foetus was wrapped in a cloth with a flower print on it,” she said.
