Police arrested two men shortly after a shop was robbed in Voortrekker Road, Bellville, last week.
SAPS spokesman Lieutenant Colonel André Traut said three armed men had threatened the staff of a retail chain store at 4.15pm and fled the scene with clothing and fragrance products.
“SAPS members were quick to respond, and spotted the getaway vehicle, a Toyota Avanza.
“After a short pursuit, two of the suspects were arrested and are due to make a court appearance in Bellville on a charge of aggravated robbery, once they have been charged. The stolen items were retrieved,” he said.
* A quick-thinking member of the public slammed the brakes on two suspected thieves in a shopping centre parking lot last week.
One of the suspects had allegedly smashed a vehicle’s window to steal a handbag at the Kenridge Centre, on Wednesday February 21, said Durbanville police spokesman Captain Marchelle Rhode.
But a man managed to block the alleged getaway car, a VW Jetta, with his bakkie and detained the suspects who were then arrested by the police.
