Police have arrested two suspected drug dealers in Brackenfell.
The two men, aged 36 and 46, were arrested on Wednesday May 26, following a tip-off from the public.
Brackenfell police spokeswoman Captain Erica Crous said police had learnt of a drug deal set to take place in the parking lot of McDonald’s, in Old Paarl Road.
Officers staked out the perimeter while plain-clothes policemen were stationed inside the restaurant.
Police say a charcoal-coloured Hyundai Accent, with two men inside, parked next to another vehicle. A transaction took place and the Hyundai drove off.
“Once it was confirmed that a sale went down where 1 gram of cocaine was sold for R500, police blocked and stopped the vehicle,” Captain Crous said.
One of the suspects had attempted to swallow the cash used in the deal, but had been stopped by police, she said.
Police seized four cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Captain Crous.
