Tygerberg Cricket Club had a perfect weekend as they won both their encounters during their WP First Division A double header.
They chased a small total by Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club (NGCC) on Saturday and followed this with a 74-run victory against United on Sunday.
Franco Kasner ripped through the NGCC batting lineup to lead Tygerberg to a four wicket win in a game played at Florida Park.
Kasner finished with 6/19 in his 10 overs as they dismissed NGCC for 51 in 21.2 overs.
NGCC’s batting collapse was somewhat surprising as the side had convincingly won five of their six matches before the weekend.
While 52 runs seemed like an easy task for Tygerberg to achieve, NGCC threatened a comeback on a wicket that seemed favourable to the bowlers.
Tygerberg lost wickets at regular intervals but 26 runs off 33 balls by Jancan Adams sealed their four wicket win as the final score was 56/6.
Adams was the only batsman to reach double figures for the home side, helping to avoid what could have been an embarrassing defeat.
Tygerberg currently occupy seventh place on the log while NGCC is still third.
Kasner has been a consistent performer for the Ravensmead side and has taken a total of 15 wickets in the seven matches he has played, while also averaging 33 with the bat. After posting 204 in their innings against United at the back of a half century from Carlos Koyana, they bowled Altius out for 130.
Aython Adams led the charge for the home side with four wickets with Nathan October taking three wickets. United remained in ninth place on the log, having won just one game in the seven they have played.
Tygerberg are not in action until December 15 when they welcome Kraaifontein while NGCC will be hoping for a comeback against the same Kraaifontein side this weekend.
