A man already serving time for armed robbery has been handed a 20-year jail term for another armed robbery
in which a Goodwood shop was targeted.
Ntendulo Solontsi, 34, was sentenced in the Parow Regional Court on Friday August 11, according to Goodwood police spokesman Captain Waynne Theunis.
Solontsi was one of three armed men who held up a Hugo Street shop in April last year, taking cigarettes and cash.
Captain Theunis said that by the time investigating officer Detective Sergeant Charles Jafta had tracked down Solontsi for that crime, he was already 0in Brandvlei Prison “where he was serving a sentence for armed robbery and was awaiting trial on more armed robbery
cases”.
Goodwood police are investigating a case of kidnapping after a woman, 20, was kidnapped on Tuesday August 22, at 5pm.
“The woman boarded a taxi in Voortrekker Road, Goodwood, and when inside the taxi she noticed that she was the only passenger. The taxi sped off in the direction of Cape Town and the sliding door operator tasered her. She was ordered to the floor and her hands were tied behind her back,” said Captain Theunis.
The men demanded the woman’s bank and cellphone pin numbers before calling her family and telling them to deposit R1000 into her account, which they did.
The money was withdrawn and the woman was dropped in Cape Town with her hands still tied, but otherwise unharmed, at about 8pm.
Goodwood police arrested two women, aged 28 and 30, for burgling a shoe shop in Goodwood.
Captain Theunis said Sergeant Craig Rautenbach had responded to a complaint of a burglary in progress at the Jordan Footwear Factory Outlet, in Voor-
trekker Road, at about 3.15am on Sunday August 20.
He found a suspect climbing through a window while another was waiting outside.
They had smashed a window to get inside and several boxes of shoes were lying outside.
“One suspect was also caught with stolen clothing in her possession,” said Captain Theunis.
