Kraaifontein police are investigating a murder case after a Scottsville man died after being shot on Monday afternoon.
Cameron Maarman, 31, was caught in gang crossfire when he went to buy a cigarette at a nearby shop, according to his aunt, Classina Okhuis.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said the police responded to the scene at around 7.45pm and found a man with a gunshot wound to his head.
“The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. We can confirm that the victim succumbed to the nature of his injuries,” he said.
No arrests have been made.
Ms Okhuis described her nephew, whose nickname was Gummies, as a friendly community person who went out of his way to help elderly people and children.
