In the spirit of Easter, a Parow charity has set out to collect 100 tins of fish and 30 loaves of bread for the needy.
The organisation, which relies on donations, aims to distribute the fish and bread to households in Klipkop and Parow Valley on Tuesday March 21.
Sunette Louw, who founded People Against Poverty last year, says the Easter drive represents how Jesus shared five fish and two loaves of bread between thousands.
“The aim is to remind people that they too should have faith because the humanly impossible is possible to our creator.“
Ms Louw said she decided to start the organisation after attending a community outreach programme where she found many people were without food.
She then decided to cook and distribute a pot of food in her area. The organisation has since expanded its feeding programme to neighbouring areas and organisations.
“No one should be without food, and we should all do what we can to lighten the burden of those that are hungry. Just help people… especially kids that never asked to be here or the elderly who get left alone and forgotten about,” she said.
