The family of 9-year-old Beaulen Booysen from Fisantekraal are working with the police and the community to find him.
Beaulen had travelled with his aunt to Durbanville on Monday December 5 at 3pm, according to Emma Makapela, the sister of the boy’s mother.
The aunt and the child never returned home and the following day, the father went to the police station to report the boy missing.
“Information received is that they went to a family member in Cape Town. The family member was contacted, whereby it was confirmed that they were there on Wednesday. On the same day the cousin and the boy left with a taxi to Durbanville, but never arrived,” according to Durbanville police spokesman, Captain Marchell Rhode.
“The aunt is also a twin and her twin sister said that they showed up with Beaulen at their house in Bo-Kaap where they slept over for two days. They left the following day and the boy’s aunt said they were going back to Fisantekraal.
The boy was last seen wearing black jeans, a blue T-shirt and flip flops while the aunt wore a black T-shirt with blue jeans and Nike sneakers.
Captain Rhode said the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is investigating the case.
The FCS unit could not provide a response before publication when Northern News enquired about updates on the investigation.
Anyone with information of the whereabouts of Beaulen can contact provincial police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk at wcmedia@saps.gov.za or Emma Makapela at 065 298 8762.
