The Women’s Humanity Walk will take place on Women’s Day, Thursday August 9, from Schotcheskloof Community Hall, corner Wale and Yusuf streets, in the Bo-Kaap, at 8.45am.
The walk, facilitated by Woman Zone, an NPO which aims to unite women in Cape Town, is part of the Artscape Women’s Humanity Arts Festival, which runs from Wednesday August 1 to Saturday August 18.
The theme of the walk, held in conjunction with the South African Faith and Family Institute (SAFFI), is “Uniting Cape Town in Faith”.
Walkers will be blessed by women faith leaders before proceeding to the Artscape theatre.
Artscape CEO Marlene le Roux will head up the procession in a sidecar and motorbike driven by a women driver.
Woman Zone will also be hosting story cafés during Women’s Month, offering opportunities for debate, discussion, networking and connecting:
On Tuesday August 7, the theme is “You and Your Faith”, from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Woman’s library on the ground floor of the Artscape next to the box office.
The interactive panel discussion, facilitated by Beryl Eichenberger, is about what a woman’s faith means to her and how it impacts her life. Speakers include Jasmine Khan, Renathe Benade and Nolubabalo Rani.
On Wednesday August 8, the theme is ”You and Your (dis)Ability”, from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Woman’s library.
