Brackenfell police have registered a murder case for investigation following a stabbing incident that saw a woman, 35, killed on Saturday December 14 in Brackenfell.
Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said the incident occurred at about 10.40pm in the parking area of a block of flats in Hazendal, Brackenfell.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on the scene and a knife was confiscated and handed in as an exhibit, according to Captain Van Wyk .
The armed response and emergency service company, Titanium Securitas, said on Facebook that they responded to the scene and found the three people with stab wounds.
In a statement, they reported the account of eyewitnesses who said that the man who was arrested had asked the woman, whom he was related to, for help to get to the Eastern Cape. When she declined, the man allegedly suffered a psychological breakdown and attacked her, fatally injuring her. The two men tried to stop the man but they were also attacked and injured.
Captain Van Wyk confirmed that the woman who died and the man who attacked her were family.
“They were fighting with each other in the parking area,“ he said, adding that two men who tried to stop the fight were injured and taken by ambulance to hospital.
