A 21-year-old Brackenfell woman was arrested for being in possession of 23 packets of tik and nine halved mandrax tablets worth R650.
The woman appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday after she was arrested in Brackenfell on Monday June 7 for possession of drugs.
Captain Erica Crous said Brackenfell police received a tip-off that the Everite Hostel woman was carrying drugs.
When Captain Debbie Brönn, Warrant Officer Andries Dicks, Constables Ashley Buys and Gaius Frederiks arrived at the hostel at 1.23pm on Monday, they found the woman with the drugs wrapped in foil.
The estimated street value of the drugs is about R650.
National Prosecuting Authority provincial spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila had not responded at the time of publication.
Station commander Colonel Jakobus Marthinus encouraged community members to continue coming forward with information. He added that positive information leads to arrests that sweep drugs off the streets.
