Wallacedene Clinic closed due to protest

The Wallacedene Clinic in Kraaifontein remains closed this morning after it was forced to shut its doors due to violent protests yesterday.

It’s unclear what’s behind the protest.

The facility manager’s office was stoned and the facility closed was closed.

Patients were referred to other clinics and traumatised staff will be sent for counselling.

Mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith said: “The situation will be assessed, and only then will a decision be made to reopen the clinic. The city condemns the violent attack on our staff and facilities in the strongest terms. This was also an attack on our most venerable residents, all of whom are ill and infirm.”

They City also urged anyone with information about those behind the attack to contact the police.
