Minister of Transport, Joe Maswanganyi, and MEC for Transport and Public Works, Donald Grant, conducted a site inspection to monitor progress on a roadworks project currently under way on the N1 between Plattekloof Road and the Old Oak Interchange on Monday October 9.
This R487 million project started in February last year and is expected to be completed in April 2019, if everything goes according to plan. The project is 41% completed.
The work, being implemented in phases, includes adding additional lanes on both sides of the freeway, new auxiliary lanes, extensions of the existing concrete median barrier, intersection improvements along the affected stretch, the demolition and reconstruction of the Old Oak West Bridge, and repairs to other bridges.
