The Tygerberg City Choir is looking for more members.
The 45-member choir sings classical works and contemporary pieces, including gospel, pop and traditional folk songs.
The choir is especially in need of more male voices, tenors and basses, according to its spokesperson Hester Heunis.
In March, the choir performed at the opening concert of the Mzanzi International Conductors Convention at Cape Town International Convention Centre and Last Night at the Proms in the Cape Town City Hall.
“There are still wonderful concerts to come. To mention only two – we will take part in a Songs of Praise concert together with another choir and orchestra under the baton of well known conductor, Richard Cock, in Stellenbosch later in October. In November, we will once again collaborate with other choirs for a Christmas concert in the City Hall in Cape Town,” said Ms Heunis.
Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm with extra rehearsals and rehearsal weekends closer to performances.
The choir is based at the DR Church De Tyger, in Hannes Louw Drive, Parow North, and anyone aged 18 to 60 can apply to join with an audition fee of R50. Call musical director Peter Roux at 083 535 3707 or visit the choir’s website to join.
