Two men aged 27 and 28 appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Monday after they were arrested for allegedly transporting cannabis worth R1.7 million on the N1 near Kraaifontein, say the Hawks.
The case was postponed until Monday October 7 for a bail application, said Hawks spokeswoman Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani.
Warrant Officer Hani said officers had responded to a tip-off about a Toyota Hilux bakkie transporting drugs from Gauteng to Cape Town on Friday September 27.
The driver and passenger were arrested.
“The vehicle was spotted on the N1 near Kraaifontein, at Brighton Road turn off, heading towards Cape Town,” she said.
During the search, officers had found parcels of cannabis concealed inside a trailer, she said.
