Two arrested for cash-in-transit robbery

Police arrested two 26-year-old men for robbing a cash-van guard at a mall in Parow.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Lloyd Ramovha said the robbers pulled guns on the guard as he walked to the cash van on Saturday May 7, at 1pm. They seized the cash box and fled. But a passing police van startled the robbers, and they dropped the box. The officers pursued the men and arrested them.

Police later found that the men had allegedly used toy guns in the hold-up.

Two men appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday May 9 on charges of armed robbery.
