In Touch Athletic Club will hold its annual Charity Trail Run/Walk at the Zevenwacht Wine Estate on Sunday December 1.
All the proceeds from the event will be used to provide a room at the estate where farmworkers’ children will be able to do their homework, according to the club’s race coordinator, Briggett Smit.
Co-owner of the estate Denise Johnson confirmed they were working with the club on the project and that the estate planned to open a preschool next year.
The trail run organisers are appealing to the public to donate unused laptops for the room to be used by the children.
Adult finishers of the 5km and 10km races, all on the gravel road, will get a bottle of wine. There will also be lucky draw prizes.
Registration on race day starts at 6am in the restaurant parking area. Marshals will direct motorists to the parking on the estate.
The 10km, 5km and 2km races will start from 7am, 7.10am and 7.30am, respectively, and the cut-off time is 9am for all distances.
Entry fees range from R10 to R170. To register online, follow this link.
