Police arrested three men in connection with a stolen scooter last week.

Warrant Officer Terence Nortje, recently deployed as the new Sector 3 commander, was doing routine patrols, travelling towards Bottelary Road, when he spotted two men on scooters in Kruispad Street at approximately 11.40am, on Tuesday March 15.

After stopping the two men and running checks on the scooters, Warrant Officer Nortje found that one of the scooters had been stolen in December last year, while the second motorcycle’s make could not be identified and had neither chassis nor engine number.

The two men, aged 23 and 25, from Wallacedene and Epping, were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.

A 24-year old man from Manenberg was then arrested in a follow-up investigation. He allegedly sold the stolen scooter to one of the suspects.

* Last week Northern News reported that police had arrested a 16-year old teen for theft after he was found with a stolen red scooter on March 8 in Brackenfell. It was also Warrant Officer Nortje’s call to test the scooter on Klein Akker farm after he had spotted the teen sitting on the red Motomia scooter while Warrant Officer Nortje was doing routine patrols.

Police said the youth was released to his parentss care after appearing at the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court.
