A spate of Durbanville vehicle thefts mostly targeting VW Polos could be the work of syndicates, say police.
Several Polos have been stolen in the past few months, according to Durbanville police spokesman Captain Marchell Rhode.
“These vehicles are stolen during the day and during the night. There are no specific times when the vehicles are taken. Numerous vehicles were stolen in Jip De Jager Drive and nearby Majik Forest. I cannot give an exact number as to how many vehicles were stolen, but I suspect syndicates could be involved,” he said.
Captain Rhode urged the public to take extra precautions to avoid falling prey to the thieves.
“Park the vehicle in a secure area. Fit vehicles with alarm and tracker systems. The same modus operandi occurs in other areas as well,“ he said.
