Pupils, parents and teachers celebrated Parow North Primary School’s 50th anniversary last week. Principal Martin Gomes said the anniversary is a major milestone in the school’s history.
“Parow North is a unique school. There is something special about this school that has been passed on by generations.
“The only way to experience it, is to be a child in this school,” said Mr Gomes.
Mr Gomes, who became principal of Parow North in 2003, said what makes the school unique is the children.
“Without kids there is no school,” he said, adding that parents play an equally important role in the success of the school.
Mr Gomes thanked everyone who had a hand in making the school into what it is today.
“It is our challenge and duty to take the school forward for the next 50 years and to serve the community,” he said.
Parow North Primary School has 733 pupils. When they opened their doors in 1966, there were only 320 pupils.
To mark the milestone anniversary, pupils were all treated to a cupcake and party packs at a celebration at the school on Friday February 26.
